Overview of Solar Photovoltaic Power Generators by RenewCo

A Solar Photovoltaic (PV) power generator consists of solar modules connected in series and parallel configurations, designed to convert solar radiation into direct current (DC) electrical power at predetermined voltage ranges whenever sunlight is available. Each solar module is comprised of individual solar cells arranged in a series connection, and they are hermetically sealed to withstand rugged weather conditions, ensuring optimal performance throughout their lifespan.

To achieve a higher system voltage, modules are arranged in a series formation known as a string. This arrangement offers several advantages, including reduced installation work, increased efficiency of the overall plant, and the ability to use smaller cross-section cables. A calculated number of strings are then connected in parallel using cables within array junction boxes.

The outputs from these array junction boxes are fed into the Power Control Unit (PCU), which inverts the solar-generated DC power into conventional three-phase AC power. For grid-connected systems, the AC power generated by the PCU/inverters is linked to the local low-tension (LT) power distribution box for on-site usage.

Engineering Considerations

RenewCo emphasizes meticulous engineering practices, which include:

  • Topographic Works: Conducting contour level assessments.
  • Geotechnical Survey: Performing soil tests for site evaluation.
  • Calculations and Design: Implementing calculations for system design and functionality.
  • Documentation: Delivering a complete set of “as-built” drawings upon project completion, along with a comprehensive maintenance manual for the installed equipment.
  • Construction Supervision: Overseeing the development of construction activities to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.

Design Basis

Based on site location, area availability, and load patterns, RenewCo can install a 2000 KWp solar module system. The proposed location has a latitude of 28.7XYZ..N and a longitude of 76.XYZ…E, with calculations factoring in solar insulation data and sunlight availability.

System Configuration

  • PV Module Array: 2000 KWp
  • Inverter Capacity: 2000 KWA
  • Battery Bank: Not Applicable
  • Module Mounting Structure: Designed adequately for a 2000 KWp solar power plant
  • Civil Foundation: To be determined after engineering assessments
  • Miscellaneous Items: Includes cables, hardware, and other necessary components
